Dr. Beck is at the forefront in providing leading edge technology for orthodontic patients. With more than 20 years experience as an orthodontist, she has worked with all types of braces and systems. Adding the Damon Braces System to her practice has revolutionized treatment for her patients.
HOW DOES THE DAMON SYSTEM WORK?
Each Damon brace is "self-ligating", meaning that it has a built-in door that holds the wire to the brace. Additional attachments are not needed to hold the wire to the brace and so there is less friction (therefore, less force required) to overcome when moving the tooth. With the newest in wire technology, we can apply light forces more biologically compatible to the tooth and bone resulting in less discomfort and gentler, faster tooth movement with fewer adjustments.
WHY ARE FEWER EXTRACTIONS OF PERMANENT TEETH NEEDED WITH THE DAMON SYSTEM?
With conventional braces, orthodontists are often forced to pull teeth in order to create space for crowded teeth. The Damon System uses biologically sensible forces which work with the body's natural adaptive processes to create space naturally and at the same time create a beautiful broad smile and nicer profile.
WHY DO PATIENTS LIKE THE DAMON SYSTEM?
Fewer patients need to have permanent teeth removed with the Damon System, a real plus for our patients and parents. Damon braces are small and esthetic in their appearance. Because of their size and lack of additional attachments, the braces are easier to clean. The wires used with Damon braces apply light forces to the teeth and bone and are more comfortable for our patients than conventional braces with stainless steel wires. Also, Damon wires have "memory" and do not deform as quickly as stainless steel wires. Usually fewer adjustments are needed because of wire "memory" and treatment time with Damon braces is often less than with conventional type braces.
Not every orthodontic office uses the Damon Braces System. The reason we do is simple . . . less discomfort for our patients, fewer extractions of permanent teeth, and beautiful smiles and profiles for a lifetime.
